The Ballad of Nathan Stubblefield

A new opera collaboration with Claire Kiechel, commissioned by The Actor's Theatre of Louisville for the Humana Festival of New American Plays, that celebrates unsung dreamers, unlikely breakthroughs, and the beauty (and occasional hilarity) of failure.

The piece follows the mysterious demise of a Kentucky inventor - and other stories of visionaries from the Bluegrass State - while exploring the nature of innovation and the myths we tell about it. We draw inspiration from the classic American ballad, Appalachian folk song, post-minimalism, and various electronic elements.
